From breast implants to squeeze to ice packs and stimulator tools, she works with you during your treatment to ensure you’re as comforable as possible.

Annual events:
BRA DAY: Closing the Loop on Breast Cancer
BRA (Breast Reconstruction Awareness) Day USA is an initiative designed to promote education, awareness and access regarding post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. This informative event occurs annually in October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it is designed to “close the loop” on breast cancer.
At The Center for Plastic Surgery at Sentara Martha Jefferson and the Sentara Martha Jefferson Cancer Care Center, we believe women should be able to make fully informed decisions – and that’s why we support National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day.
It’s not for every woman, but it’s something every woman should know. Did you know that:
- Less than a quarter of women (23%) know the full range of breast reconstruction options available
- Only 22% of women are familiar with the quality of outcomes that can be expected
- Only 19% of women understanding that the timing of their treatment for breast cancer and the timing of their decision to undergo reconstruction impacts their options and results
Hear from Dr. Brian Showalter and Dr. Victoria Vastine on the importance of being aware of your options.
National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day is also held in October. To get involved, follow this link. And please, contact us if you have questions about breast reconstruction, or ask your physician for more information.
